We caught up with Sophie (13) and Lawrie (11) who play Brat and Poor Baby, respectively, in Cast 1 of our #EdFringe production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's #WhistleDownTheWind. We asked them some questions about their experiences and how it feels to perform on stage. Have a read...
1. Tell us about your character in a sentence or two? Sophie tells us: "She’s the middle child in the family, she can be quite stroppy which is why she’s called Brat." / Lawrie says: "He’s the youngest of the three siblings. He expects a lot to be handed to him, and doesn’t like his sisters."
2. What do you enjoy about coming to Captivate, and how does it differ from a day at school? Sophie: "All the friends and the experience that I’ve gained from it! It’s different from school because I get to act and sing, which is what I love doing." / Lawrie: "Spending time with my friends and doing what I enjoy. I’m doing something that I love and don’t feel like I’m being forced to do it."
3. What do you love about performing? How does it make you feel when you’re on stage? Sophie says "It makes me feel happy, I get a rush of adrenaline on stage." / Lawrie says: "I love performing because it makes people feel different emotions when they’re watching and you get to connect to the audience!"
4. Finally, why should people come and see the show? Sophie: "Because it’s a nice family show, and the cast is really close which makes the performance on stage better." / Lawrie: "Because all the cast are really talented, and it’s a really good show. If people don’t know it, it’s a great one to come see with the family!"
Later on, we'll be catching up with Charis and Henry who play the same roles in Cast 2!
